“Zero emissions” and sales only online – Corriere.it

100% electric and available exclusively online, the new Volvo C40 Recharge is not only a zero-emission car, but also a manifesto with which the Gothenburg house illustrates its electron future.

Volvo C40 Recharge:

Presented with an online event together with the electrification strategy of the Swedish house, the new SUV-coup with dynamic and streamlined lines built on the modular CMA platform, mounts a 78 kWh battery with 420 kilometers of autonomy (WLTP cycle) and shares the powertrain of the already known XC40 (two electric motors, one per axle).

Volvo did not provide details with respect to horses, torque or charging power, but he anticipated that fast charging will guarantee 80% autonomy in just 40 minutes, that the distances that can be traveled will increase thanks to the progressive evolution of the software that manages the battery and powertrain (can be updated in OTA mode), and that the car can go from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.7 seconds.

Volvo C40 Recharge:

The new C40, we said, also a manifesto. Volvo Cars aims for leadership in the high-end electric car market, and has already set two important milestones along the way to electrification: the first is that, as early as 2025, 50% of global sales are made up of full cars. electric, while the second milestone – even more ambitious – is to reach 2030 with an exclusively electric offer.

Meanwhile, it changes radically also the way of relating with the customer, in the name of simplification and convenience: the new full-electric from the Swedish manufacturer (controlled by the Chinese giant Geely) will in fact be sold only online thanks to the close integration between the digital store and the sales partner, who will have the task of preparing, delivering and maintaining the cars. By purchasing an electric Volvo online, you will also buy a package of services that include assistance, warranty, roadside assistance, insurance and, where available, even home charging solutions.

Volvo C40 Recharge:

Returning to the C40, the first electric Volvo designed from scratch, it has a brand new rear (beautiful lights that connect to the lines of the roof), a revised front that will characterize the new electric models and headlamps with pixel technology. To further confirm the Swedish company’s commitment to the environment and sustainability, the interiors are entirely leather-free, while the infotainment was developed jointly with Google on the Android operating system, allowing you to download apps from the Play Store and interact with Google Assistant.

Built in the Ghent factory, in Belgium (on the same lines as the XC40 Recharge), the new C40 will go into production in the fall. By then, at least 25 of the 30 175 kW fast-charging stations that Volvo has committed to installing in Italy by 2021 at some of its dealers, chosen from those near the motorway exits, could already be available. In this way, there will be more than 15 motorway axes near which it will be possible to benefit from the presence of the columns of the project called Volvo Recharge Highways. Plugsurfing (Volvo’s partner throughout Europe) will then provide owners of Volvo Recharge cars with the service app containing all the information they need to use the charging network.

Volvo C40 Recharge:

Finally, the fact is also noteworthy that the city of Milan will host the first Volvo fast charging station. Created thanks to a collaboration between the manufacturer, COIMA and the Municipality of Milan, this will arise in the Porta Nuova district, a few steps from Volvo Studio Milano.
