British Airways website and app are back in action Business News

The British Airways website and app are back online after being down for several hours due to ‘planned improvements’.

For much of Wednesday until 2pm BST, those wishing to book tickets, check in online, or monitor flight arrivals and departures on were told, “We will be back soon.”

“ and our applications are temporarily unavailable while we make planned improvements to our systems.

“You can still check in at the airport as usual if you are traveling in the next few hours.”

BA-recommended people look for flight information “on the website of your departure airport.”

Airline app users were told, “We are unable to connect. Please try again. If the problem persists, visit or call your local contact center.”

A British Airways spokesperson said: “We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

BA has suffered from computer failures on several occasions in recent years.

In May 2017, around 75,000 passengers were stranded after a power problem disabled the departure control system. British Airways canceled around 800 flights from Gatwick and Heathrow in the wake of the failure, resulting in losses of £ 58million.

The following year, cybercriminals hacked the payment details of hundreds of thousands of customers who had booked directly with the airline.
