Laindon stabbed: 16-year-old boy accused of murdering ‘unbelievable’ father of four who died on his twins’ birthday | UK News

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a father of four stabbed to death.

James Gibbons died shortly after being attacked on the street where he lived in Laindon, Essex, Sunday evening – the birthday of her twin daughters.

Essex Police said the 34-year-old self-employed plumber allegedly went to the rescue of another man and then died in a subsequent altercation.

Six teenagers were arrested in connection with the force’s investigation.

A 16-year-old boy has now been charged with murder and will appear in Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

A 13-year-old boy arrested for murder was released on bail until May 14.

Police said two girls, aged 15 and 16, who had been arrested on suspicion of murder, were told they did not face any further charges.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy arrested in connection with the murder has been released on bail until May 25.

A 13-year-old boy was told he was not at risk of further action in connection with the murder, but was released on bail for an assault, police said.

Mr Gibbons, of Iris Mews, has been described by his family as an “incredible father of four young children, engaged to his 11-year-old partner, and … a loving and supportive son and brother”.

In a statement released by police, they said: “James was a man who worked hard for his family, ran his own bathroom faucet business and hoped for a positive future for himself and his family.

“This tragedy occurred after he spent the day celebrating his two year old twins’ birthday at home and we are absolutely broken beyond belief in the face of this needless loss that had an effect. devastating on us all.

“James was the kind of person who would always be willing to help anyone less fortunate than him, and that’s what he was doing …”
