Brighton band Royal Blood release album and announce tour Brighton News

THE FRONTMAN of Brighton rockers Royal Blood has said he is delighted to be back on the road after the release of his band’s new album.

Lead singer and bassist Mike Kerr will be back to perform concerts after tickets for the new tour go on sale this week.

It comes after live music was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, which also delayed Royal Blood’s new album.

The two-piece will hit the road next year – although their hometown is currently not included on the tour.

Mike said: “I can’t wait to come back there.

“I don’t know if I have a particular hotspot in the UK, I’m just excited to see the fans again.”

The tour, from March 25 to April 3, was announced alongside the release of the group’s third album.

Argus: Brighton, Royal Blood, have released a new album and are going on tour in 2022.Brighton band Royal Blood have released a new album and are going on tour in 2022.

Mike was working on the record with teammate Ben Thatcher but the exit was hit by the coronavirus crisis.

But the delay allowed them to work more on the record, titled Typhoons.

Mike said: “It’s so exciting, the very idea of releasing an album because we’ve been away for so long.

“It was actually the perfect time for a global pandemic because we were making the record. It meant we could take stock of where we were.

“I continued to write songs, considering that they weren’t all for the new album and some were potentially for a fourth album.

“As I started to amass more material, I suddenly discovered that I had songs like Typhoon, Limbo, Mad Visions and Oblivion – some of the best songs I have ever written.

“It allowed us to go even further in the record that we were making, further into the rabbit hole.

So to come out on the other side with this album is magic.

Mike said he was “overwhelmed” by the response to the new album, which has already proven popular on Spotify.

Royal Blood was formed in Brighton in 2011, although Mike and Ben are from West Sussex.

Mike recently spoke of his “scary” addictions after two years of abstinence.

He also explained how the new record was inspired by going to see a band of Royal Blood covers in Brighton.

Mike and Ben went to see Royal Monster and the experience inspired them to revamp their sound.

Royal Blood will be on tour in 2022, with dates in Bournemouth, Birmingham, Cardiff, Nottingham, London, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow.
