20-year-old man arrested after police discovered cannabis farm inside Newcastle home UK News

A man has been arrested after police discovered a cannabis farm in a house in Newcastle.

Officers were called to report suspicious activity at the Newminster Road house in Fenham around 6 a.m. on Sunday.

A photo taken from the scene showed at least three police vehicles outside the residential property.

Police officers, some in white suits, were seen entering the house as work to dismantle the cannabis farm was underway.

Northumbria Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

He is currently in detention and investigations are ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Shortly before 6 am today (Sunday) we received a report of suspicious activity at an address in Newminster Road, Newcastle.

“Officers came to the property and located a cannabis farm inside. The farm has since been dismantled and the drugs seized.

“An investigation has been launched into the discovery.

“A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and is currently in police custody.
