Armed police and helicopter called after gang seen with blade in Northumberland UK News

Armed police and a helicopter were dispatched after responding to reports of a gang spotted with a blade in Northumberland.

Officers rushed to Broadway Circle in Blyth upon reports of a disruption around 5:15 p.m. Saturday.

It was reported that a gang suspected of being armed with a weapon smashed a window on a property before taking off.

The police helicopter provided support to armed officers on the ground with four suspects located.

Two men and two women were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and remain in police custody.

No one was hurt. and an investigation is underway, with police saying there would be no risk to the public.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 5:15 pm today (Saturday) we received a report of a disturbance in the Broadway Circle area, Blyth.

“It has been reported that a group of individuals suspected of possessing a bladed item broke an address window before leaving the scene.

“Police were deployed to the area supported by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and located four suspects who were all successfully arrested.”

“Two men and two women were arrested and are still in custody.

“Fortunately, no one was injured and it is not believed that there is a greater risk to the public. Investigations are ongoing.”
