Another coronavirus death has been recorded in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

Covid deaths have been reported in our county for four consecutive days, although deaths remain low across the UK.

Today’s death has been reported in Sedgemoor – the grim tally for that region is now 161.

Data also released today (May 12) shows there have been 14 new cases in Somerset.

Four new positive test results were recorded in North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset.

Three new positive test results were recorded in Sedgemoor, while a new case was recorded in South Somerset, Mendip and Somerset West and Taunton.

Bath and North East Somerset: 8,281 (+4 new cases) Mendip: 3,484 (+1 new case) North Somerset: 10,142 (+4 new cases) Sedgemoor: 5,449 (+3 new cases) Somerset West and Taunton: 6,001 (+1 new case)
South Somerset: 5,485 (+1 new case)
