there aren’t many bright spots to come from the pandemic, but a potentially beneficial side effect is falling downtown rents.

Property website Zoopla says London’s rental market, previously a horror sight for residents of the capital, has seen a 9.4% year-over-year decline, leaving affordability at a ten-year high.

The average rent now represents 42% of the average income of a single employee in the capital, up from 49% in March 2020. A peak of 53% was reached in the fourth quarter of 2016.
