Matt Lucas has confirmed that the new series of The Great British Bake Off will be back “very soon”.
The comedian who made his Channel 4 hit debut in March of last year said the new series would be filmed in a bubble secured by Covid.
He replaced Sandi Toksvig, who had hosted the show with Noel Fielding since the show was transferred to Channel 4 from the BBC.
The cast and crew will be re-tested and quarantined before filming so they can make the new episodes without worrying about social distancing.
Matt appeared in the Lorraine installment of Friday morning on ITV1.
He told Lorraine: “We are starting (filming) very soon. And like last year, we are entering a bubble.
“Everyone self-isolates and gets tested. And then we go into a bubble without Covid, so we can all taste each other’s pastries and there can be handshakes and all kinds.

He added: “I’ve seen the music videos of all the new bakers and there are some brilliant ones in there.”
He added, “I’m just having fun and love working with Noel (Fielding). He’s so funny.
“And of course we’ve both been in double acts – we’re used to being in that dynamic.
“So when we write together, we understand the rhythms of saying, ‘Oh actually, I thought about that joke, but you got it.’ Noel is really generous like that.
“He offers me some very funny things to say. And Paul (Hollywood) and Prue ([Leith) are very friendly and very welcoming.
“I was so nervous to be on this hugely popular show and Sandi (Toksvig) had left some really big boots to fill. But it’s great, so much fun to be a part of it.
“We’re trying to do more sketches like that. Before the show starts, we try to do something fun every week. We are dressing more and more this year.

Matt has also confirmed that he will be working with Little Britain and Come Fly With Me co-star David Walliams again.
He said, “We have an idea. We haven’t written anything yet, we haven’t presented anything to anyone, but we know what we want to do.
