COVID-19: England’s largest coronavirus vaccination center in West London breaks policy to offer vaccine to anyone over 18 for today only | UK News

Huge queues have formed at England’s largest COVID vaccination center at Twickenham Stadium after shots were offered to anyone over 18 for just one day.

Thousands of people over the age of 30 had already received a VSOVID dose of vaccine at England’s rugby home after it opened on the Monday public holiday, but local NHS trust later said they could offer them to anyone over 18.

He tweeted just before 3:20 p.m.: “Thousands of people were vaccinated at @twickenhamstad today. Still places and vaccines left: now open to anyone 18 and over who can arrive before 7:30 p.m.!”

Sky’s Ashna Hurynag was at the stadium in the sunshine and said the lines were called “Disney lines,” with hundreds and hundreds of young people showing up to get stung.

There was so much demand once the call went out for all adults that the doors closed to new arrivals at 6:45 p.m., people who hadn’t booked or had already started queuing said they would not be seen.

A man said he was on a day trip to Brighton with friends when they heard about the call at noon so they returned to London just to get their shots.

“It was great, we all ran together from Twickenham station, it was one of the strangest experiences of my life, but it’s fantastic,” he told Sky News.

Another couple of friends said they planned to meet in the sun, but “ran” towards the stadium when they heard what was happening.

“I’m so glad to have him because I just want my family to be safe as well,” they added.

Government directives only tell people over 30 years are currently eligible for the jab, but stadium medics have offered it to all adults to make sure nothing is wasted.
