Matt Hancock hailed the UK as being ‘on the road to recovery’ as the government announced that all people aged 18 and over will be able to reserve their COVID vaccine in England from Friday.

Confirming the update in a speech, the Health Secretary hailed the immunization program as “an incredible achievement”.

NHS England chief Sir Simon Stevens described the offer of jabs to all adults as “a milestone”.

Students welcome vaccine rollout

It comes as coronavirus cases are said to be “increasing exponentially” across England, with the latest estimates putting the R number at 1.44.

The Health Secretary also urged all adults to accept the offer of a vaccine.

“All adults in the UK can now come forward and get the vaccine and my message to all adults who have not yet received the vaccine is to come and get the vaccine, it’s really easy and it will help you. protect and protect those around you and will help us all on the road to recovery, ”Mr. Hancock said.

“If you had a jab, if you didn’t have the second jab, get that second jab because we know they are so important.

“And with the successful rollout of the vaccine, we can be sure we’re on the road to recovery, but everyone needs to come forward and get the vaccine.”

Pressed on whether the government will advise 12-18 year olds to get the vaccine, the health secretary added, “We will be getting advice from clinicians on childhood immunizations in the next two weeks, we will be looking at this very carefully. “
