The couple climbed Wainwright Peaks in the Lake District National Park to make the moving gesture, alongside current and former emergency service workers. Lissie’s husband Andrew was killed while trying to stop a gang of teenage ATV thieves in 2019. Samantha lost her James in a motorcycle accident in 2017 while on duty. The pair made it to the top of the mountain at 3 a.m. on Saturday after a grueling hike.
In a Facebook post, Lissie, 30, said: “I am really proud of us for taking on this challenge for our boys and also for all the other officers who lost their lives!
The gesture was part of the Light The Lakes commemoration, which aims to raise funds for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity, which supports family members who have lost a loved one on duty.
This year’s trek has already raised almost £ 23,000 for the association.
Lissie added, “We carry the torch of our heroes with pride and honor.
“We stand in solidarity with all those who have been left behind and we promise to hold onto our strength and move forward with memories and love in our hearts.
“Share the stories of those who are no longer with us.”
