Plane crash: Two people die as plane crashes near West Sussex airfield | UK News

Two men died in a plane crash near Goodwood airfield in West Sussex on Wednesday.

In a statement, Sussex Police said: “A 65-year-old man from Bulls Cross and a 58-year-old man from Gosport have sadly died as a result of a light plane crash just north of Goodwood airfield this afternoon.

“Officers are providing support to their families during this difficult time. “

He added that the Air Accident Investigation Directorate has been informed and no further information is available.

A spokesperson for the West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We have been called to report an incident involving a light aircraft off New Road near Chichester at 4:38 pm this afternoon.

“Joint fire control mobilized a team from the Chichester fire station as well as the service’s technical rescue unit to the scene.

“Our team booked away from the venue at 5:29 PM, but members of the public are asked to avoid the area at this time in order to allow emergency services personnel to work safely.”
