GB News sets the launch date Business

GB News will try to shake up the broadcasting landscape when the news network launches its television channel in early June.

The news service, run by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil, has announced plans to go live on Sunday, June 13.

In a tweet, the channel announced its launch at 8 p.m. with a special, “Welcome to GB News”.

The 24-hour news channel plans to fight the BBC and Sky News by targeting an audience that has become disillusioned with coverage from traditional broadcasters.

The channel, backed by US broadcaster Discovery, has hired a number of seasoned journalists, including veteran ITV presenter Alastair Stewart and former BBC News presenter Simon McCoy.

In recent days, it has stepped up publicity around its upcoming launch, with videos on social media from its new London-based studios in Paddington.
