Search for man wearing peaky blinder cap after attempted robbery at Uckfield Brighton News

POLICE stalk a man wearing a Peaky Blinders hat after he tried to steal money from a church.

The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 25 at St Mary’s Church in Fletching, near Uckfield.

Witnesses saw the suspect wearing a baker’s hat leave the church and reported damage to the interior.

An attempt had been made to access the contents of the church piggy bank.

The suspect was then seen walking towards a nearby car and allegedly carrying something.

The police are now calling for witnesses.

Local Response Officer PC Lee, supported by the Sussex Police Rural Crime Team, is investigating the incident and said the suspect was a white male dressed in black, with a cover-up black face.

He has been described as being in his 40s, thin to medium build and between 5’11 “and 6” tall.

PC Lee said, “We look forward to hearing from anyone who may witness what happened or who may have been in the area at the time.

“We would also like to find the driver of a gray or green Ford Fusion in connection with the incident.

“Anyone with information can report it to Sussex Police online here or call 101 and quote serial number 0434 as of 06/25. ”
