Koenigsegg Jesko: 1,578hp hypercar makes production debut Car News

The 1,578bhp Koenigsegg Jesko was first unveiled as a production version, more than two years after its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019.

Finished in Tang Orange Pearl paint with silver and carbon fiber accents, the color scheme is a nod to the 2004 Koenigsegg CCR.

The first customer deliveries of Agera’s successor are expected to take place next spring, and the hypercar will be sold in two forms: one that maximizes track performance and an Absolut version tuned to break the 300 mph barrier. Prices are expected to start at £ 2.3million before local taxes are applied.

Using a V8 engine paired with turbochargers, a forged crankshaft, and air injection, the Jesko produces 1,262 hp with 95-octane gasoline, but that figure rises to 1,578 hp when filled with ethanol. The Jesko runs on an entirely new platform, unrelated to that of the old Agera, with slightly increased dimensions and an aerodynamic package resulting in up to 1000 kg of downforce.

Perhaps the most innovative component of all is the nine-speed transmission, which features seven wet multi-plate clutches in a lightweight housing that’s supposed to tip the scales at just 90kg. The setup means the driver can change gears in just 20 milliseconds, making it the fastest transmission in the world, according to Koenigsegg.

“The Jesko is very natural to drive,” said prototype driver Markus Lundh. “Because of its smooth shifting, whether it’s up or down, everything happens a lot faster. There are no delays. It is very responsive and behaves exactly the way you want it to. For a car of its size and power, it’s very nimble in the way it responds to steering and doesn’t get carried away even with sudden movements at full throttle.
