Euro 2020: Police release images of 10 men they stalk because of unrest ahead of England-Italy final | UK News

Police have released images of 10 people they want to question about the unrest in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium.

Detectives went through the “meticulous” process of sifting through CCTV footage and images carried on the body. last sunday’s final between England and Italy, and are always looking for other people they want to talk to.

Before the game, groups of people were pictured fighting and rushing past the guards to gain entry to the stadium without a ticket.

Some 19 officers were injured, including one who broke his hand and another who had a broken tooth, when they faced “volatile crowds” in the capital after the match.

A total of 51 people have been arrested across London, including 26 detained at Wembley and 25 at the following events in central London.

Metropolitan police suggested the match could have ended to be abandoned the officers had not intervened.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jane Connors, who led the force’s response to the tournament, said she “does not accept that the police operation has failed” and that she “has no doubts” that the intervention police prevented the disruption from escalating.

UEFA, the governing body of European football, said it was also investigating events at the stadium ahead of the game.

Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson, Met’s Public Order Crime Team, said: “After the chaos at Wembley Stadium and central London, we are committed to ensuring those responsible face the consequences.

“Today’s actions are being taken to help identify those who we believe have questions to answer. If you know who they are, you are welcome to contact us as soon as possible.

“This investigation is still in its early stages and I have no doubt that more appeals and arrests will follow.
