British electric vehicle conversion specialist Everrati and rolling chassis manufacturer Superformance have announced a partnership to build a range of electrified classic cars, starting with an electric Ford GT40.
Development is underway at Everrati’s base in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, and a prototype chassis has been built to establish how to install an electric powertrain in such a way as to retain ‘the character and soul of the original”.
Performance details are expected to be revealed in the coming months as the company gears up for production.
“It’s the perfect partnership,” said Justin Lunny, Founder and CEO of Everrati. “Everrati and Superformance focus only on iconic cars, and Lance [Stander, the CEO of Superformance] and his team are the guys when it comes to licensed continuation chassis of some of the most legendary cars in history.
“The marriage of these chassis with our advanced EV powertrains and precision engineering will enhance performance while retaining the essence and soul of the original.
“Our goal is to create the best electric cars for drivers while preserving the future of these true masters of the past. “
Stander added, “While I’ll always love a V8-powered vehicle, there’s no doubt that the ultra-high performance of Everrati’s advanced EV powertrains. I’m really impressed with Everrati’s efforts to maintain the weight distribution and character of the original car.
“Electrification is the future in many ways and adds another option for those who love classic sports cars.”
Rather than tearing up the powertrain of an original classic, all Superformance cars are vehicles with continuation components – essentially replicas. Founded in 1994, the company produces each of its chassis under license from the original trademark holder.
Everrati was founded in 2019 and already offers electric versions of the Porsche 911 of the 964 generation, the Land Rover Series 2A and the Mercedes-Benz SL “Pagoda” of the W113 generation in its range.
