Police step in to shut down third illegal rave in Portslade Brighton News

POLICE were called in to stop an illegal beach rave for the third time this weekend.

Officers are responding to reports of people arriving for an unlicensed music event in the Portslade South Beach area this evening.

According to police, access is closed and those attending the rave have been told to leave.

Anyone else is advised not to attempt to attend the event.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Police are responding to reports of people arriving for an unlicensed music event on South #Portslade beach this evening.

“The access is closed and those present must leave.

“Anyone else is advised not to attempt to attend, you will be refused.

“Thank you for your cooperation.”

It comes after officers seized equipment after hundreds of people gathered in the same area last night.

Officers shut down the unauthorized event on the beach around 7 p.m. yesterday.

Access to the site was closed under public order legislation and those present were invited to leave.

Photos taken at the scene showed crowds gathered on the waterfront, as officers stepped forward to disperse them.

The sound equipment that had been brought to the scene was seized and the event was brought to a “timely conclusion”.

However, officers hit the beach again at 10:30 a.m. this morning and seized more sound equipment to prevent a second illegal rave.
