Weddings will be canceled if the bride or groom is contacted by the NHS Covid-19 app UK News

The government has warned that weddings must be called off if the bride or groom is screwed by the NHS Covid-19 app.

Downing Street said it was “crucial” for people to self-isolate after receiving an alert from the NHS Covid-19 app.

The No.10 ended the confusion after Business Secretary Paul Scully said it was up to individuals and employers to decide whether to self-isolate after a “ping” of the app.

In the first week of July, more than half a million people were asked to self-isolate by the NHS Covid-19 app, with that number continuing to rise.

Now the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson has confirmed that even those who marry will be forced to cancel their marriage if they receive a notification from the app.

Boris Johnson spokesman said: “Yes, we recognize it would be a tough situation for everyone, but the app serves an important function.

“We know that one in three people contacted by either Test and Trace or the app develops symptoms of coronavirus, demonstrating the importance of isolating people when asked to do so.”

An increase in the number of people surveyed by the app as Covid cases rise – dubbed a ‘pingemia’ – has caused chaos in a range of industries and weddings will not be exempt from being canceled.

As more people are urged to self-isolate, UK industry is struggling to keep up with demand.

Retailers are under “increasing pressure” to keep shelves fully stocked amid staff shortages caused by the “pingemia,” industry bosses have warned.

The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has urged the government to act to change self-isolation guidelines for workers.

Andrew Opie, director of food and sustainability at BRC, said store and supplier staff should be allowed to work even if they receive an alert to self-isolate.

“The ongoing ‘pingdemia’ is putting increasing pressure on the ability of retailers to maintain opening hours and stock shelves,” he said.

“The government must act quickly. Retailers and suppliers, who have played a critical role throughout this pandemic, should be allowed to work on the condition that they are doubly vaccinated or can present a negative Covid test, to ensure that the public’s ability to self-test. procuring food and other goods is not disturbed.

“With cases soaring in the community, the number of healthy retail workers needing to self-isolate is rapidly increasing, disrupting retail operations. ”

Food industry bosses have also warned that supply chains are “starting to fail” due to workers’ isolation from coronavirus contact.

British Meat Processors Association chief executive Nick Allen also criticized the government’s “confusing messages” as he said ministers had not clarified who was applicable.

It came as Boris Johnson apologized to companies for the “inconvenience” on Wednesday, but told them to follow isolation rules.
