Bedford drug dealer duo jailed and £ 50,000 of crack, heroin and cannabis seized Bedford News

Two Bedford men have been jailed in an operation which saw the seizure of more than £ 50,000 in illegal drugs, as Bedfordshire police continue to strike against county gangs.

Amir Ghafoor, 30, of Bunyan Road, and Ussman Zafar, 30, of Oldfield Road, were sentenced to more than six years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiring to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Intensive work by agents from the Bedfordshire Police Intelligence, Community and Crime Teams led to Ghafoor and Zafar being tied to the G Man Line, a drug line responsible for selling Class A drugs in Bedford .

A targeted operation against the G Man County line resulted in the seizure of over £ 2,000 in cash, as well as cannabis with a potential market value of up to £ 22,610, crack with a potential market value up to £ 8,500 and heroin. with a potential value of £ 21,120.

The £ 2,425.21 seized was donated to YouTurn Futures, a charity which helps tackle exploitation and serious violence among young people in Bedfordshire.

The couple were sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Tuesday July 20. Ghafoor was given three years and nine months, and Zafar was given two years and seven months.

“This is one of the many successful crackdowns we have launched against county lines in recent times, and we understand that we face a significant challenge from organized crime in the county.

“Our communities must be assured that we are at the forefront to reduce it and work to make our county safer.”

Chief Detective Inspector Louisa Glynn, Bedfordshire Police Tactical Officer for Imported County Lines, added: “Over the past few weeks we have had excellent results in tackling County Lines and illicit drug activity, as we continue to disrupt organized crime networks operating in and around Bedfordshire.

“County drug gangs typically target children and youth and coerce or exploit them to transport drugs and guns across the county. These children may face extreme violence and intimidation as well as “debt bondage”, where the gangs arrange for the young runner to be robbed so that they are in debt to the gang.

“This is why it is so important that we continue to work alongside our partners to help support those vulnerable to this exploitation, as well as to target these drug gangs and disrupt their activities.”
