The Times Radio host of Split Opinion then deleted the tweet following an online reaction. Prior to the 2016 Brexit referendum, Ms Rudd was a strong supporter of Britain joining the EU.
On Thursday afternoon, Ms Gill tweeted, “Someone needs to create porn for children. Listen to me
“Young teens already watch porn, but they find aggressive and harsh videos that convey a terrible view of sex.
“They need entry level porn! A soft core site where everyone asks for their consent and nobody chokes, etc.
She later added: “To clarify, children mean under 18. I’m talking about 14/15/16 years old.”
After much online criticism and mockery, Ms Gill deleted both tweets.
A Twitter user replied, “All porn does is encourage bad attitudes towards sex, but now she wants to harm children in the same way that porn has harmed so many adults…?”
Another joked: “I feel like I could have done with an entry-level tweet, to make Flora Gill easier for me.”
Dr Ben Janaway wrote: “Hasn’t Flora Gill heard of sex education?

“Obviously not a real solution, but it’s a real problem. Everyone takes a deep breath.
The writer later added: “About nothing, I really think if someone quickly deletes a tweet it shouldn’t be captured and shared like… let it die, you know? No? Nobody from. other does not agree?
However, she continued to receive criticism from other social media users.
Steve Brookstein tweeted: “As a victim of abuse who was subjected to pornography at a young age, I can assure you that deleting this misinformed tweet was the right thing to do. Thought.”
Another added, “’Entry-level child pornography’ will never win you any support.
“Kids should be discouraged from watching all the porn, not preparing them for levels. Year [your] to take was terrible.
Ms. Gill is also the daughter of AA Gill, a famous Sunday Times food critic.

Ms Rudd was appointed Home Secretary by Theresa May in July 2016.
