With buyers hungry for space, house prices are now almost a third higher on average than the previous market peak in 2007.
The UK average house price in June hit a record £ 230,700 – but in Bedford the figure was £ 305,523.
It looks like stockouts are helping to drive up prices – good news if you’re selling, not so good if you’re buying, of course.
