Events at Yeovil National Park have been delayed and moved as travelers rush Bath City News

Two planned events were affected by a traveler encampment at Yeovil Country Park.

A group of trailers and other vehicles could be seen parked on the grass yesterday (July 30), near the Ninesprings Cafe.

A park yoga event that was scheduled to take place in the park on Sunday has been moved to Yeovil Recreation Center, while the start of a fairytale trail has been postponed until Tuesday.

A statement, posted on Yeovil Country Park’s Facebook page last night, said the team was aware of the camp’s existence.

He said, “We have tried to secure the park and are grateful to Atlas Security for their support.

“The notice has been served, but since we can’t be sure the space will be free by Sunday, ParkYoga has been moved to the Yeovil Recreation Center for the next session.

“Next week’s fairy tale route will now have a delayed start due to lack of preparation time today. We hope it can start on Tuesday, but will be released as soon as we can confirm. Thanks for your patience and understanding. “

South Somerset District Council, which owns the park, said yesterday it was “aware of an illegal encampment” and had acted “quickly to remove them from the site”.

The council said it had issued documents ordering travelers to leave and informing them that “failing to do so, a request for notice of departure will be sought from the court.”

His spokesperson added: “We will now wait until we adhere to our opinion before issuing the relevant court documents if necessary.”
