Inside, the Taigo looks a lot like the recently updated T-Cross and Polo. The standard kit includes a multifunction steering wheel, a central touch screen with Volkswagen’s latest “MIB3” infotainment software and a group of fully digital gauges.
Tactile climate controls, as on the Golf, Tiguan and ID 3, are optional, as is the IQ.Drive pack, which offers a number of driving aids, including predictive cruise control and steering assistance. track maintenance, in addition to those fitted as standard.
The Taigo is exclusively front-wheel drive and gasoline. Two engines are available from launch: a turbocharged three-cylinder producing 94 hp or 109 hp and a four-cylinder producing 148 hp.
Depending on the engine specified, the Taigo comes with either a five- or six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed Dual Clutch Automatic (DSG) transmission.
