All new DS models will be electric-only from 2024 Car News

French manufacturer DS Automobiles will switch to exclusively electric production for new vehicles from 2024, a year earlier than initially planned and four years earlier than other brands owned by Stellantis.

The announcement was made on social media by Jules Tilstone, CEO of DS UK. The announcement comes as parent company Stellantis announced its half-year results, in which the group announced that all segments were profitable, with an average margin of 11.4%.

“It’s been an eventful time for the auto industry, but it’s great to see the Stellantis teams come together to deliver such a fantastic result,” said Tilstone. “We also announced that starting in 2024, all new DS models will be launched as a fully electric version only. “

The company originally said it would switch to electric only from 2025, while other brands owned by Stellantis, including Vauxhall / Opel, would start switching from 2027.

DS currently offers several electrified models, including the all-electric DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, with the DS 3, DS 7 and DS 9 models all offered with plug-in hybrid power. Existing combustion models will see their life cycle as planned beyond the date of 2024.

“Our ambition is very clear: to make DS one of the world leaders in electrified cars in its segment,” said DS CEO Yves Bonnefont in 2018. performance in the UK, but was convinced that new models could be a stepping stone to a “very large and competitive” premium market.

Stellantis is moving forward with an accelerated electric vehicle strategy, with plans to launch 11 battery electric vehicles and 10 plug-in hybrid vehicles over the next 24 months.

“While achieving this strong operational performance, the company has also made significant progress on strategic issues related to electrification acceleration and software, which are fundamental pillars of our strategy,” said Carlos Tavares, CEO by Stellantis.
