A section of the M5 is closed after a serious collision involving a car and a truck in Devon.
The incident occurred near Tiverton and the southbound freeway was closed shortly before midnight and remained closed at 5:45 am today (Tuesday August 10).
The closure is due to salvage work and affects the roadway between exit 27 for the A361 (Tiverton) and exit 28 for the A373 at Cullompton.

Traffic blocked inside the closure was reversed by police and a detour was put in place via the A38 and B3181 towards Cullompton.
In the early hours of the morning, Highways England warned that the closure could potentially continue until the morning rush hour.
