More than 400 new confirmed Covid cases in Somerset but no new deaths Bath City News

There have been 406 new confirmed cases of Covid in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

Most of the new cases have been reconfirmed in Sedgemoor, where 122 new infections have been reported.

There were 77 new positive tests in Bath and northeast Somerset.

62 new cases have been reported in North Somerset, including 51 in both South Somerset and Somerset West and Taunton.

Mendip saw 43 other new cases.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses.

Bath and North East Somerset: 14 114 (+77)
Mendip: 5,541 (+43) North Somerset: 15,691 (+62) Sedgemoor: 7,966 (+122) Somerset West and Taunton: 8,340 (+51) South Somerset: 8,340 (+51)

The number of deaths recorded in each neighborhood in Somerset since the start of the pandemic is as follows:

Bath and North East Somerset: 230 (-)
Mendip: 165 (-) North Somerset: 322 (-) Sedgemoor: 168 (-) Somerset West and Taunton: 197 (-) South Somerset: 163 (-)

Across the UK, there have been an additional 26,750 laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the government said – bringing the total across the country to 6,267,437 since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Another 61 people also died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the UK total to 130,953.

However, government data up to August 12 shows that 47,302,445 first doses of the Covid vaccination were given across the UK – an increase of 46,603 the day before.

Some 40,577,198 second doses were also administered, a daily increase of 199,584.
