Somerset coronavirus latest with nearly 400 new cases confirmed in one day Bath City News

Nearly 400 new cases of Covid have been recorded in Somerset in the past 24 hours.

A total of 393 positive tests were confirmed in the latest official figures on Monday August 16, with the largest increase of 95 at Sedgemoor.

There were 72 new positive tests in North Somerset, with 69 in Bath and North East Somerset and 65 in South Somerset.

Somerset West and Taunton recorded 59, while Mendip recorded the smallest increase with 33.

The number of positive test results in each area since the start of the pandemic is recorded below, with the new positive test results in parentheses.

Bath and North East Somerset: 14,183 (+69)
Mendip: 5,574 (+33) North Somerset: 15,763 (+72) Sedgemoor: 8,061 (+95) Somerset West and Taunton: 8,399 (+59) South Somerset: 8,405 (+65)

The number of deaths recorded in each neighborhood in Somerset since the start of the pandemic is as follows:

Bath and North East Somerset: 230 (-)
Mendip: 165 (-) North Somerset: 322 (-) Sedgemoor: 168 (-) Somerset West and Taunton: 197 (-) South Somerset: 163 (-)

The government said another 26 people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the UK total to 130,979.

Separate figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that there have been 155,000 registered deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

At 9 a.m. on Monday, there had been 28,438 more laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK.

Government data up to August 15 shows that of the 88,037,283 Covid injections administered in the UK, 47,333,702 were first doses, an increase of 31,257 the day before.

Some 40,703,581 were second doses, an increase of 126,383.
