Some of the country’s most popular brands are offering rewards to people vaccinated against Covid-19.
Young people in the UK are being offered shopping discounts and holiday vouchers in a bid to increase the number of coronavirus vaccinations.
More than three-quarters of UK adults are now vaccinated, but the government hopes to encourage more young adults to come forward for both vaccines.
Ministers are concerned about the slow pace of vaccination among young Britons, with companies offering incentives in an attempt to get more people to come forward.
Asda, lastminute.com, National Express, Free Now Taxis and Better Leisure Centers are among those offering incentives to encourage younger people to get vaccinated.
Uber, Bolt and Deliveroo have previously announced that they will offer discounted rides and meals to customers who receive a Covid-19 vaccine, to help boost vaccine uptake.
Some of the rewards include £ 30 holiday gift cards and £ 10 vouchers for Asda’s George clothing brand.
Meanwhile, Free Now offers free cab rides to those over 18 who receive the jab, and National Express offers travel passes.
Better recreation centers offer £ 10 vouchers and three-day center passes for over 16s.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: “The requirement for double-needled people and those under the age of 18 who are in contact with people with Covid has been removed as we take a further step back towards the normality, thanks to the phenomenal success of our vaccine deployment.
“Vaccines are what will end this pandemic – with over 84,000 lives saved and 23 million infections averted. Please show up to receive your vaccine as soon as you can to protect yourself and the people around you . ”
A final push to get young people vaccinated has come as the rules about self-isolation for fully vaccinated people change.
As of August 16, those who have both jabs no longer have to self-isolate if they come into contact with a positive coronavirus case but show no symptoms.
If they show symptoms and test positive for the coronavirus, they will need to self-isolate normally.
