Sedgemoor has the third highest coronavirus rate per 100,000 in the UK as cases skyrocket in the region.

The case rate in the region is currently 650.5 cases per 100,000 population.

This is more than double the UK rate of 310.5.

The areas with the highest infection rate per 100,000 population are Fermanagh and Omagh with a rate of 939.2 and Derry City and Strabane with a rate of 731.3.

Yesterday (August 21), Sedgemoor recorded 149 cases in one day and since the start of the pandemic, a total of 8,760 cases.

The number of confirmed cases yesterday was a significant jump from figures confirmed at the end of July, when 21 cases were confirmed on the 31st.

The youngest age groups register the greatest number of cases.

15-19 year olds have the highest infection rate per 100,000 with 2,723 as of August 16 (latest data available).

Next come the 20 to 24 year olds with a rate of 2,475, followed by the 25 to 29 year olds with a rate of 1375.
