Slide performers to take the stage at the Marina Boating Party Brighton News

DRAG artists will take the stage at a special boat party to compensate for the cancellation of Brighton Pride.

Brighton Marina is set to turn into a scintillating, plume-filled extravaganza this Sunday, with three well-known drag artists performing live, alongside two professional dance groups – The Sass Squad and ODC from Marina Studios.

The Drag’on Boat Party will be hosted by Faking It reality TV star Dave Lynn, which has entertained crowds in the city and across the UK for 30 years.

Dave said: “I’m really looking forward to being the host and being able to perform in front of a local audience.

“After all, it’s Brighton and who doesn’t love Brighton?

“It will be a really fun afternoon and I’m really excited to be able to work with my fellow Drag artists.

Joining Dave will be Portia De Fosse, who worked as a West End performer and host at the first DragCon UK, and Snow White Trash, who will entertain the crowds with sing-alongs and hilarious jokes.

Snow White Trash said: “Brighton Pride can be canceled, but the pride lasts all year round and I can’t wait to celebrate in the iconic Marina.

“The day will be filled with music, song and dance, and lots of lipstick and false eyelashes.”

All three will take the stage on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with no ticket required to attend.

One issue will see all three drag artists and dancers sing and perform Glora Gaynor’s hit song, I Am What I Am, which has become a “gay anthem”.

A spokesperson for Brighton Marina said: “Brighton and Hove Pride is one of Europe’s biggest pride festivals attracting thousands of people from all over the UK and, although sadly it has not been able to take place due to mass participation, Brighton Marina hopes to offer the community the opportunity to celebrate in another way.

The event is one of many that have taken place over the past few weeks to celebrate the LGBTQ + community in the city, following the cancellation of the main Pride event that would have taken place earlier this this month.
