The M5 was partially closed this afternoon (Sunday October 3) as torrential rains flooded part of the road.
A southerly carriageway lane of the motorway was closed at junction 19 in Portishead, near Gordano Services, affecting Somerset-bound traffic from Bristol.
No accidents have been reported on the highway due to weather conditions, but motorists are advised to allow sufficient time to complete their journey due to heavy rains this afternoon.

It is not known at this point how long it will take before the highway reopens, although anyone traveling this afternoon is urged to be extra careful due to bad weather.
