Police have confirmed that the body of a missing Gateshead man has sadly been found.
An extensive search has been launched following the disappearance of Jamie Grant on February 8.
The 27-year-old was last seen at his home in Whickham before disappearing.
It has now been confirmed that a body was found along the River Derwent on Friday.

A formal identification has taken place and his family is currently being cared for by specialist officers at this devastating time.
Police do not believe a third party was involved in the death and a report will now be drawn up for the coroner.
Jamie’s mother Andrea previously urged him to come home after searching for her son every night since he disappeared.
Detective Chief Inspector Angela Hudson of Northumbria Police said: ‘This is an incredibly sad update and one we certainly did not expect to deliver.
“We would like to thank those who shared our appeal to help find Jamie and our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Our specialist agents will continue to offer them support during this extremely difficult time. »
