Waitrose Sheffield: Man in hospital after shooting as police tape supermarket car park UK News

Officers recorded the entrance to the underpass which runs under St Mary’s Gate off the Waitrose car park at around 2.30am yesterday (March 17).

South Yorkshire Police have now confirmed they were called to the area to report a shooting, and a man is now in hospital with gunshot wounds.

A member of the public said a car was inside the cordon and appeared to have a damaged windshield.

A spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Clarence Lane, Sheffield, shortly before 2.30pm today (March 17) following reports of a shooting.

“A man was transported to hospital with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 528 of March 17.”

A member of the public told The Star that the cord was in place around a black Kia car, which had “very visible damage to the front glass due to what looks like a rock”.

Police recorded the underpass at the bottom of the Waitrose car park near St Mary’s Gate.
