A CLOSURE order has been issued against a property following ongoing drug problems.
Over the past year, the Chichester Borough Police team has been working to tackle the ongoing drug trade at 61 Kingsham Road and the immediate surrounding area.
Working with partners such as Hyde Housing and Chichester District Council, police have applied for a full closure order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
On March 10, at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, the order was granted, meaning the address was closed to all people for a period of three months.
Anyone who fails to comply with the order could face prosecution and up to six months in jail and/or fines.
PCSO Mac Larbey said: “Drug trafficking is causing significant damage and this is a great result for the local community.
“This is also believed to be the first such order in the Chichester district.
“We are pleased to have put an end to criminal activity at this address, where residents have provided Class A and B drugs to people, including children.
“Despite two warrants and convictions for Class A and B possession, the problem persisted and it was clear that the offenders had a complete disregard for the law.”
