Brighton bathed in sunshine for the hottest day of the year so far Brighton News

SUSSEX was bathed in sunshine as temperatures reached their hottest of the year so far.

Temperatures in Brighton and Hove reached 16C, slightly above average for the time of year, although a light breeze made conditions a bit chillier.

The warmer weather on the coast coincided with this year’s spring equinox, which takes place today (March 20).

Conditions are expected to remain warm at the start of the new week, with temperatures between 14-16C and sunny forecast for most of the week, with some clouds expected on Monday.

A spokesman for the Met Office said Monday’s weather for the region looked “mainly dry, with just the very slight chance of a light shower and feeling warm”.

As for the rest of the week, he said the forecast looked “mostly dry with sunny spells and light winds.

“Scattered mist and fog are possible in the morning, especially on Thursday.

“It will get hotter during the day, but it will stay cold at night with some frost possible.”
