On BBC TWO, a new drama created by acclaimed writer Jack Throne follows the love story of two disabled civil rights activists who met at a concert and quickly fell in love.
From then on, the couple became the driving force behind an unprecedented direct action campaign that led to the passage of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
The show is inspired by the true story of Barbara Lisicki and Alan Holdsworth who hope their story is just one of many that will be told to encourage more shows with disabled actors in the lead.
Next, Barbara Met Alan was written by Jack Throne who has helmed many acclaimed shows and movies, including “Shameless,” “Skins,” “His Dark Materials,” and the pandemic-inspired movie “Help.”
