Eastbourne man jailed for repeatedly accessing child abuse footage Brighton News

A MAN who repeatedly accessed child abuse footage despite a prior conviction has been jailed.

Ludovit Gerhat, from Eastbourne, was given a suspended prison sentence last year for possessing indecent images of children.

As part of his sentence, he had to make all digital communication devices accessible to police via surveillance software.

Officers detected attempts to erase hardware from his devices and upon inspection found that the 34-year-old had viewed over 200 videos and 100 other indecent images of children on the internet.

The material included some in the more serious categories.

At Lewes Crown Court, Gerhat, of Blackwater Road, Eastbourne, was sentenced to 15 months in prison for breaching his requirements as a registered sex offender.

The cleaner will also remain a registered sex offender for another ten years and will continue to be subject to a Sexual Offense Prevention Order (SHPO), severely restricting his access to digital communication devices and children for the same additional period.

Constable Louise Blacker, from the East Sussex team responsible for monitoring registered sex offenders in the community, said: “Gerhat clearly felt he could get away with it, but didn’t. realized that we could monitor it effectively and help ensure communities were protected.”
