One lane on the M4 is closed this afternoon due to an earlier accident on the eastbound carriageway. Traffic is currently very slow as a barrier is being repaired.
The motorway is closed in both directions between Junction 17, for Chippenham, and Junction 16, for Swindon West.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix says: “One lane closed and very slow traffic due to previous accidents and barrier repairs on the M4 in both directions between J17 A350 (Chippenham) and J16 A3102 Swindon Road (Swindon West ).
“Lane three (of three) is closed on both sides after the crash earlier on the eastbound carriageway.”
