Roedean School principal Oliver Blond resigns after a decade Brighton News

THE SCHOOL DIRECTOR must resign after a decade of service.

Roedean School has announced that Oliver Blond will step down in September 2023.

Ahead of his departure from Brighton School, Mr Blond said: ‘My proudest achievement is how we have all worked tirelessly and cooperatively to ensure that Roedean is a place where girls can enjoy their time at school, grow at their own pace and thrive, whatever their interests or passions.

“It has been a privilege and an honor to work with such incredibly committed and wonderful staff, and to serve students for what will be an entire decade.

“We have collectively raised, encouraged and supported the aspirations of so many students.

“Roedean is in a very good position, with more students than at any time in its history, stronger academic results than ever before and a huge and impressive range of opportunities. I hope I will leave school in good shape for the future.

In a statement, Roedean School thanked Mr Blond for his “committed and determined work”, which has enabled the number of pupils to double since his arrival.

School trustees said the headmaster had helped the institute become “renowned locally and internationally for truly holistic education of the highest quality”.

“While at Roedean, the school’s popularity grew exponentially and as a result the school’s income more than doubled, providing an even greater ability to reinvest in its facilities, attract and to retain the best teachers, develop new educational opportunities and, vitally, support talented children through scholarships and scholarships,” a school spokeswoman said.

“Importantly, this underlying financial strength has also enabled the school to support its staff and families during the pandemic, and to extend its support to local schools.”

Mr Blond has steered the school through five successive exceptional inspections, the most recent in November 2021.

Vivien Smiley, acting chair of the school council, said: “Mr. Blond transformed Roedean during his time at the school and will be sadly missed by the staff, parents and daughters.

“Through his visionary and dedicated leadership, he leaves Roedean in a position of considerable strength. We wish him and his family the best for their next adventures and projects.
