A 17-year-old girl who was seen climbing out of a bedroom window during a police raid has been found not guilty of supplying cocaine and diamorphine.
The court heard that Ms Godwin had met Paul Olabisi from London on Instagram and invited him to her home for sex.
Police then raided his address in Ashford Road, Eastbourne on July 22, 2019, after suspecting a car parked outside had previously been used in a drug smuggling operation in the town.
Olabisi was later arrested but released without charge.
Ms Godwin, a freshman at the University of Surrey, told the court on April 6 that she “freaked out” when police raided her home and tried to flush drugs down the toilet.
Asked by James Hay, defending whether she had been involved in the drug supply, she broke down in tears on the witness stand.
“I have never been involved in drug supply,” she said.
Efstathios Divaris, prosecuting, asked why she didn’t let the police enter the house and explain what happened.
“I was scared,” she said. “I had never been put in this position before.”
