It is believed that Osman will be replaced by a series of rotating guest co-hosts for the start of filming on the new series in May, while a permanent replacement is being sought.
Osman’s success as a writer, starting with The Thursday Murder Club, is part of the reason he stepped away from the role, as he has to devote more time to writing.

Osman will continue his role as host on another BBC daytime show, House of Games.

His co-host Alexander Armstrong was sad to see him go, saying, “The loss of daytime television is the gain of the world’s best-selling detective fiction. I say that as if it’s a consolation – I’m going to miss the big man next to me Monday through Friday. But at least I still get it on weekends – and on weekdays if you watch on Challenge.
