Somerset’s latest Covid-19 heatmap as cases plummet Bath City News

Somerset’s most recent Covid-19 heatmap is revealed as cases continue to fall. The latest figures show a weekly decline of more than 40% in each of Somerset, North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset.

The government has a coronavirus heat map, which measures the number of new infections and the rate of cases in the county. According to the data, Somerset recorded 3,172 new cases in the week to April 7, with an average of 562.6 infections per 100,000 people.

North Somerset recorded 1,190 additional infections over the seven-day period and an average of 552 per 100,000. In Bath and North East Somerset the figures are 895 and 455.8 respectively.

The turnover rate is found by calculating the number of cases in the past seven days divided by the number of people living in the area. Then this number is multiplied by 100,000.

Each neighborhood is divided using Super Average Outflow Area (MSOA) data, breaking down districts into smaller areas, to give a picture of the increase in cases. Each region has an average population of around 7,200 people to present an equal image in all parts of the country.

There are currently 12 ‘blues’ in Somerset. These are areas with a case rate of between 100 and 199 per 100,000 population.

Here’s the breakdown of each ‘blue zone’ in the county, with the number of new cases in the week to April 7, the percentage decrease in cases from the previous seven days and the latest case rate per 100,000 people .
