ITV announce details of Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration UK News

The ITV broadcaster has announced full details of its plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Hollywood stars are expected to attend, including Tom Cruise, Dame Helen Mirren, Damian Lewis and Omid Djalili.

The event will be broadcast live on ITV from the grounds of Windsor Castle on Sunday May 15 and will be the first televised event to mark the historic occasion.

Phillip Schofield and Julie Etchingham will host the special event as guests such as Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, Ant & Dec, Dame Joan Collins, Sir Trevor McDonald and many more.

There will also be musical performances from Keala Settle, Gregory Porter and Katherine Jenkins as they pay their respects to the Queen.

Additionally, ITV will also be hosting a special theatrical event which will bring together 1,300 artists and 500 houses made up of four acts.

Each act will be hosted by different hosts who are Tom Cruise, Damian Lewis, Adjoa Andoh and Alan Titchmarsh.

The celebration will take viewers through history from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

Legendary actress Dame Helen Mirren will star as Queen Elizabeth I while Omid Djalili will star as ‘The Herald’.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Commissioning at ITV Entertainment, said: “We are delighted to broadcast the first TV event for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee here on ITV. To mark this momentous occasion, we will present the nation with a celebratory, star-studded spectacle, featuring jaw-dropping performances and an epic journey through history, narrated by some of the most well-known and respected names in film and television. .”

The event will take place in front of a live audience of 4,000 over four evenings from May 12-15 with a royal presence each evening, with Sunday evening being ITV’s live broadcast.
