EMERGENCY services were called to an incident near a lighthouse yesterday afternoon.
Eastbourne RNLI was notified at 2.30pm and together with Sussex Police and Coastguard teams traveled to the cliffs to the east of Belle Tout Lighthouse at Beachy Head Road, Eastbourne.
Several police cars were parked at the scene while coastguard vehicles and the helicopter were positioned near the edge of the cliff.
The lifeboat returned to its station at 6:30 p.m.

Eastbourne RNLI also responded to reports that a person was in the water near Eastbourne Pier last night at around 7.30pm.
Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
