If you’ve run out of things to watch, you’re in luck because there’s another one you can jump into this week as ITV launches DI Ray.
Another holiday brings another new drama to the channel. Two weeks ago at Easter it was The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe who had millions stuck in consecutive nights and the May bank holiday saw another new one fly out of the traps – with Parminder Nagra assuming the lead role.
Filmed in the Midlands last year, DI Ray is a FOUR part of the series that follows a compelling murder investigation while exploring the emotional subject of racism in the workplace. It asks tough questions about what it’s like to be British but feel ‘other’. And it does so while sending viewers on a thrilling journey through the murky underworld of Birmingham and beyond.

And just like The Thief, His Wife and The Canoe, which took over the program from ITV last month, DI Ray will occupy the coveted 9pm slot for consecutive nights on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Teasing what to expect from the thriller, drama channel head Polly Hill commented: “Maya’s script is brilliant. It’s funny, to the point and features the fabulous DI Ray, played by the equally fabulous Parminder Nagra It’s always hard to find a new detective, but it feels like starring Rachita Ray, in a thriller that will keep audiences captivated until the end.
A teaser for Tuesday’s second episode reads, “Rachita and the team race to find Anjuli Kapoor making more than one grim discovery in the process. It’s not an honor killing.”
