Caravan completely destroyed by fire in a barn in Long Sutton Bath City News

Fire crews had to tackle a fire that completely destroyed a trailer in Long Sutton yesterday afternoon (May 2). Two fire engines from Martock and Somerton attended the blaze around 1.16pm and were there for about 90 minutes.

Crews used 2 hose reels, 1 thermal camera and small tools to help put out a fire that had started inside a barn. Martock Fire Station posted on Facebook saying: “Working with our colleagues at Somerton Fire Station this afternoon to deal with the incident.

‘Fire Control received a call regarding a fire involving a trailer inside a barn at the above location. Fire Control immediately mobilized two fire engines from the stations above.’ The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Footage shared by the fire crews present shows the remains of the trailer, which had been flattened by the fire. Firefighters are seen dampening a pile of blackened rubble at the scene, with smoke still coming from the ruin but no flames visible.
