Less than two years after being banned from appearing on another MTV show after posting an offensive tweet about Black Lives Matter, ex-Geordie Shore star Dee Nguyen has been publicly shamed for mocking a disabled man on a dating app.
Dee, 29, appeared on the Newcastle-based reality show in 2018 when the cast and crew, including Chloe Ferry and Sophie Kasaei, traveled to Australia to film a series. She was one of four Australians to join the show that year, alongside Alex Macpherson, Nick Murdoch and Chrysten Zenon and after her stint on Geordie Shore she became a star on another MTV show, The challenge.
However, MTV said they would no longer employ her when in 2020 she tweeted, “DK why do some of you think I’m anti-BLM. I’ve been saying this since the day I lost my virginity.” Replying to the critics, she then reportedly ranted, “People die every f*****g day. You don’t know me or what I do. I suggest you wake up and get off social media.”

MTV cut all ties with Dee following her post and this week she landed in hot water again after pranking a man she saw on the famous app. Hinge dating. The man in question is an Australian artist. and podcast star Kyle Montgomery, a quadriplegic since 2019.
Dee filmed her browsing Hinge and spotting a message from Kyle. Sharing it on her TikTok account, she said he asked her “to go dancing”, before smiling as she showed a picture of Kyle in his wheelchair.
Slamming Dee for his discrimination, Kyle posted a picture of Dee, writing, “This person made an ableist joke about me, before adding, ‘This isn’t about retaliation, this is about harmful occasional ableism. People with disabilities are just people. Please help me raise awareness so that others won’t be ashamed like me.

After being told on Kyle’s Instaspost about her, Dee took to TikTok to apologize, saying @: “So a few weeks ago I made this stupid TikTok video.
“When I came across Kyle’s profile, he replied to one of my prompts saying he wanted to go dancing with me.
“I scroll down. I saw he was in a wheelchair – there’s nothing wrong with that, by the way. I scroll down and listen to one of his voicemails which read, “If you’re not a fan of fucked up dark humor, then we probably won’t get along.”
“Obviously I thought it was puny [a funny pun] and I didn’t mean to post this video in a way that made fun of him. So when he reached out saying he was completely upset, I personally reached out to him and told him I was sorry.

Sharing a thread of the written apology she sent to Kyle, Dee added: “Truly from the bottom of my heart I’m sorry Kyle. I’m sorry to the entire disability community for any hurt or upset you have felt by my video.
“I’m still learning as a human being – obviously I have a lot to learn. I hope you can forgive me, and I hope we can meet for coffee or even a Zoom chat, so so that I can be more understanding and learn more about you and your struggles and what the community is going through
