An air ambulance lands after a crash near South West Beach Bath City News

An air ambulance landed following a crash near a popular Dorset beach this afternoon (Saturday May 7).

The collision happened on Common Lane near Burton Bradstock Beach, resulting in the closure of the road in both directions between Green Barton and Beach Road.

The road reopened shortly after 5 p.m. It is not known at this stage how many vehicles were involved in the collision or the condition of those affected.

The air ambulance was confirmed at the scene by the INRIX traffic information service shortly before 4pm, Dorset Live reports.

“Common lane in both directions closed, slow traffic due to crash between Green Barton (Swyre) and Beach Road (Burton Bradstock). Air ambulances are on scene.”

Traffic was affected between Bridport and Abbotsbury following the collision.

Somerset Live has contacted Dorset Police for comment.
